2. Find out which lamp technology you have installed

Our LED tubes are a safe and straightforward option for converting your luminaires. To make replacement as easy as possible, we would like to give you two tips for finding out which lamp technology you currently have installed. Then you just need to select the tubes from our product overviews with the right length and diameter.

Here's how to find out which lamp technology is installed

Electromagnetic ballast (KVG/VVG) or electronic ballast (EVG)

If you have a luminaire that is still equipped with a functional fluorescent lamp, we recommend you to observe the tubes with a smartphone camera.
Does the light flicker? – Then you need an LED tube for operation with an electromagnetic ballast (KVG/VVG)
Does the light not flicker? – Then you need an LED tube for operation with an electronic ballast (EVG)

If your fluorescent lamp has already been dismantled or is defective, we recommend that you check whether a start is installed in the luminaire.
Is there a starter? – Then you need an LED tube for operation with an electromagnetic ballast (KVG/VVG)
Is there no starter? – Then you need an LED tube for operation with an electronic ballast (EVG)

3. LED tubes for electronic ballasts (KVG/VVG):

T8: G13 base (13 mm distance between base pins) and 28 mm total diameter

4. LED tubes for electronic ballasts (EVG):

T5: G5 base (5 mm distance between base pins) and 18 mm total diameter
T8: G13 base (13 mm distance between base pins) and 28 mm total diameter

5. Replace your fluorescent tubes with LED tubes, here's how:

Disconnect the tube from the current

Disengage the old tube with a quarter-turn twist

Remove the old tube

Engage the new tube with a quarter-turn twist

Reinstate the power connection

Disconnect the tube from the current

Disengage the old tube with a quarter-turn twist

Remove the old tube

Remove the conventional starter

Insert the new tube

Engage the new tube with a quarter-turn twist

Reinstate the power connection
