Outdoor luminaires suitable for using around pools

Outdoor luminaires that are placed near swimming pools or hot tubs may be subject to harsher influences. Substances in the pool water, such as chlorine or salts, can cause damage to the luminaires over time.

To minimise this risk, Paulmann Plug&Shine luminaires are particularly robust.

To the Plug & Shine luminaires

These luminaires, which bear the “poolwater-resistant" seal, have passed stringent quality tests – specifically, they are tested in accordance with DIN EN IEC 60598-2-18 (VDE 0711-2-18) Section 18.7.3.

During the test procedure, the luminaires are exposed to the test liquid (saltwater and chlorinated water) for 30 minutes. If they do not show any significant damage or water ingress afterwards, they are poolwater-resistant.

The following installation instructions must be observed:

· The transformer must be at least 4 metres away from the water.

· The luminaires must be installed at least 0.5 metres away from the water.

· This fulfils the requirements of protection areas 0, 1 and 2.

Protection against water ingress is defined by the specified IP protection classes

The surfaces of the luminaires should be cleaned at least once a year to prevent corrosion of the housing.
