What cable diameter are the rope spots designed for?
Paulmann’s spots for cable systems can be fitted to tension cables with a cross-section of up to 6 square millimetres and a diameter of 7 millimetres.
Can cable systems also be installed on plasterboard walls or ceilings?
Due to the tension required for installation, cable systems always need to be fitted to a fixed wall, ceiling or beam. Fixing them to plasterboard could cause them to tear out and does not provide sufficient support.
Are cable systems dimmable?
It is possible to perform dimming of cable systems if a conventional block or toroidal transformer is used as the power supply.
In this case, the system’s brightness can be adjusted using a phase-cut dimmer (marked L). Please note: The light bulbs mounted on the cable must also be dimmable!
As DC cable systems use a non-dimmable ballast, their brightness cannot be adjusted.
What should be done if scorch marks are observed on the wire system?
All electrical connections must be fixed or fully plugged in, as good contact is essential for a long lifetime given the high currents involved. Screw connections should be retightened after 20 minutes and checked from time to time. If there are faulty connections in the low-voltage circuit, contact resistance may occur, leading to a significant rise in the ambient temperature. Here, discolouration and scorching of adjacent plastic parts can occur quickly. Should these symptoms occur in the lighting system, there are no grounds for a warranty claim.

What is the cross-sectional area of the tension cables in the basic sets?
The tension cables in the basic sets are supplied as a single length and have a cable cross-section of 2.5 mm.
What cable cross-section should be used in cable systems?
For current cable systems fitted with LED components, a tension cable with a cross-sectional area of 2.5 square millimetres is sufficient.
How does the conversion from halogen to LED work in cable systems?
Our halogen cable systems are fitted with conventional transformers. These can be easily converted to LED without any minimum load requirement. Our LEDs are designed for higher minimum voltages (approx. 14V AC). Where transformers are already installed, the minimum load must be observed, as LEDs have a lower wattage.
How big is the round transformer housing on the cable system with a bluetooth unit?
The housing has a diameter of 160 mm and a height of 65 mm.
How do you convert an old wire system to LED?
As cable systems have traditionally been operated using conventional pulley or toroidal transformers, retrofitting is very straightforward.
Such transformers have none of the minimum load requirement, so it is simply a matter of using the appropriate light bulbs with the correct base.
How can a wire system be tensioned at an angle?
The Article 17806 pulley can be used here. If the system has been tensioned relatively close to the ceiling, a sturdy hook with a suitable wall plug (available from a DIY store) can be used as an alternative.
What length can the tension cable have?
The length of the tension cable should not exceed approximately 15 metres. The appropriate diameter should be selected depending on the transformer, the number of light bulbs and their type. For lengths of 5–10 metres or more, we recommend using suspension brackets for stabilisation and a second tensioning set to ensure optimum tension.
How does the cable cross-sectional area relate to the diameter of the tension cables?
The following dimensions apply to tension cables for the wire system: 2.5 mm² = 4 mm, 4 mm² = 6 mm, 6 mm² = 7 mm
How do you replace the fuse in a Toroidal transformer?
Conventional toroidal transformers are fitted with a slow-blow fuse, which is housed in a small holder beneath the cover.
This is pulled out from the front just enough to remove it; the required fuse rating can be read directly below it.
